The original designs of Jackie Taylor & Evan Moquah are constructed mainly of silver, gold, and fused glass, often incorporating pearls, diamonds, and other stones.
The look is elegant with an edge that hovers between futuristic and post-apocalyptic. Moving into the world of adornment from a background in two-dimensional art, the artists still seek a certain limited palette of colors within the material. The play of light between multiple layers of dichroic glass, structural rivets, links, and movable parts are the major elements in their design motifs.
As organic farmers and environmental activists, the couple finds themselves inspired by their involvement with the natural world. Jackie and Evan's work pays homage to the structure of living systems from macro to micro — exploring the fractal edge between organic and geometric.
