Lin uses the old, harmonious shapes in bold and unexpected fabrics: a striking mandarin coat in black wool, for example, with knotted scarlet buttons, shot with a vertical stripe of red brocade; a mohair kimono so light you could almost slip it through a ring; a cinnabar haori jacket in gauzy silk organza.
The forms are simple and geometric, but the finishes luxurious: Mao meets Xanadu, a potent blend of the time-honored and the stunningly contemporary.
